My trip to Phoenix..

Hi! My name is Jacob, J-A-C-O-B!
Today we went to see this nice lady. She had some fun toys and tried to offer me foods I didn't want. I was able to play on my daddy's phone while she talked to mommy and daddy. She tried to talk to me about some stuff in a funny looking book. I wasn't having it and as soon as I could I bolted for the door and I was gone down the hall. It was fun because Daddy chased me. Then I guess Mommy and Daddy got the idea because we were able to leave. We went to someone elses house and played with toys. I love cars and there was a track that choo choos kept going up and down. That was my favorite toy. I was able to play with that for a very long time. There was another boy there but I really didn't want to play with him but we played with the choo choo together. It was a good day.

Today we went to Jacob's evaluation for Autism. It almost didn't happen. The insurance company canceled payment when we got there and we had to pay out  of pocket. Arizona wanted an IQ test, cognitive test and diagnosis of autism to keep the state funded medical insurance to continue his services. This is normal. He failed most of the tests or were unable to administer them due to lack of language skills. He does now have a formal diagnosis of Autism although we have known for a while he is Autistic. I called our insurance company to find out why it was canceled and was told it wasn't medically necessary. Sigh, the state of our country today in addition to how far we have moved from self preservation to profit and convenience. This was a fun day for Jacob but he my never know the stress and aginy we deal with on a daily basis just to ensure his safety and well being.
